GUEST BOOK

I learned about Cody's death this morning while reading the SAV newspaper. The article was about the justice system and the person whose behavior took the life of one of my best, brightest, morally straight, spiritually mature, students ever. Something has been eating at the back of my mind wondering why I haven't bumped into Cody on campus. Something has been gnawing at my core, missing one of the most promising people in the world. Cody could have been whomever he wanted to be. Even in death, Cody is teaching me. Whenever, I told students they had the potential to outpace me, surely, I had those like Cody in mind. Cody loved Alaska, and wide open spaces; he loved the world. His insight into World Literature was deep and mature; he led the class. His integrity of self and knowledge of self --his integrity of spirit showed me flaws in my own. A leader has fallen; God's beloved has departed. Cody got my attention these past months--in so many ways. Cody may be gone in body, but not in spirit. I will try to be a better person, the best person that I can be. Out there, somewhere, Cody is noticing us and watching our love in all that we do. Dr. Fonteneau/SSU
